Members Guide Update

The members guide has been updated and is available in the members area.

Included is the updated club rules and I would urge you all to have a read of them as there are some important updates.

The guide also mentions safe diving practices and that booklet is available on the BSAC website here.

Dive Planning and Chart Work

The last dive planning meeting was a great chance for a recap on chart work, voyage planning and tidal curves. I think all those that came enjoyed either learning some new skills or having a refresher on those already learnt.

We have also got even more diving in the calendar now, thanks to everyone thats volunteering to run a trip this summer. We have almost got every other weekend with a trip on it at the moment!

First Ocean Diver Open Water Dives

Well done to Bethany and Chelsie who did their very first SCUBA diving open water dives. They have been busy doing their training in the swimming pool in Bristol alongside lectures at The Orchard pub.

The weather was great, mainly sunny and the water is starting to warm up too. May we have many more great dives. Well done guys a good start to your diving careers!!

Dry Suit Lesson by our new Theory Instructor!

David has recently passed his Theory Instructor Exam (TIE) which is fantastic news and great to see one of our members moving through the ranks as an instructor!

Good to see that despite his new qualification he still looks great when teaching the trainees how to don a dry suit.

Rescue Refresher and Diving Forum

Approaching the new diving season (With our first sea trip of 2016 less than 3 weeks away!!) we had an update on the new BSAC in water rescue guidance. We also took the oportunity to refresh basic life support skills and oxygen kit use.

Look out for the next diving forum next month which will be featuring Kirsty Andrews' photography and strobes workshop. Dates TBC

Friday Night Shout - January 2016

CSACers had the monthly dose of Friday night social festivities at the legendary Christmas Steps pub in the arts quarter of the same name. Most had food which was fantastic, certainly I was nearly beat by the most gigantic burger Ive had for a little while!! That might be because of the scotch egg starter though...

Really great to see so many dive club members there especially in the so called 'quieter' time of the year for SCUBA divers!

In all a great night out, good beer, good food and a great way start 2016 for our diving club!

Thanks to social sec Vicky for organising and bring on the next...

World Record Breaking SCUBA Santas!

CSAC divers were involved in a World Record breaking dive on 13th December 2015 at Vobster Quay dive centre. The not so chilly December morning saw 188 SCUBA diving Santas jump in the water to break the previous record set 2 years ago.

The excellent fund raising event raises money for both he RNLI and Somerset Air Ambulance.

The Vobster Dive centre is located near Bristol so our Bristol Dive Club was able to send 8 of our club members out there for the successful record breaking attempt. A fantastic way to round of 2015's diving calendar.
